COM1 and COM3 are NOT multiplexed: if you attempt to connect more
than one serial sensor (or other communications link) to COM1 or COM3
using different port types, you will get garbled and unusable
communication.
In addition to the Port Type & Baud Rate for a General Serial Script Sensor (USI), you also need to
specify four more serial port parameters:
Line Item #20: Sensor Bits Per Character Valid values are 5, 6, 7 or 8.
Line Item #21: Sensor Parity Valid values are N (none), E (even) or O (odd).
Line Item #22: Sensor Start Bits Valid values are 1 or 2.
Line Item #23: Sensor Stop Bits Valid values are 1 or 2.
